Hi I’m Emily!

I’m a photographer based in Yorkshire and I’ve been photographing weddings for around 7 years. My overall style is very natural and my main aim is to capture as many ‘real’ images as possible so that your final gallery can tell a story of your day that is completely authentic.

Once the formalities are done and dusted I’m basically here for the perfect imperfection… the veil madly blowing in the wind, the kids who aren’t ‘behaving’ themselves, the unhinged laughter, all the parts that make your day unique. I don’t believe in forcing something that isn’t naturally there and I’ll guide or suggest some posing in order to capture the laughter afterwards and (hopefully) produce images you can look back on in years to come and say “look how much fun we had on our day!”

So what can you expect from me on your day?

To be honest, its hard to say without having a chat with you first. I like to think of myself as a chameleon as I believe it’s important to blend in with the day. No wedding is ever the same to me, if you want a massive party, I’m here for it. If you’re introverts and would prefer fly-on-the-wall shots, that’s great! Maybe you want a bit of both as the party warms up (I know what it’s like once the drinks start flowing!) absolutely fine by me.

It’s also super important that we gel, we don’t have to be best buds (although I do see my couples as friends by the end) but that you feel you can relax around me and have intimate moments with each other yet still be content with me snapping away in the background. The best way for you to know before booking is for us to have a video chat in advance.

How did I get into Wedding Photography?

Growing up I did a bit of travel photography here and there and photographed my first wedding while studying at university to be a Social Worker. While I absolutely loved the buzz that wedding photography brought, I felt like I needed to honour my degree and find what felt like a “proper” job.

I then spent the majority of my 20s doing what I call flailing. I frantically job hopped, desperate to find something I could identify with and that would make me feel something. While I continued to photograph weddings here and there, I never felt like I could really pursue it.

In 2019 I fell pregnant with my daughter, Iris and gave birth in the uncertainty of 2020 lockdown. This is when my perspective began to change about myself and what was truly important to me. I made the decision during that time to work on what I already knew I really loved doing.

So four years later, here I am and let me tell you it’s been BUSY! I’ve also planned and had my own wedding during that time which was another game changer but this time, altered my perspective on the output of my work and the importance of authentic story-telling. It’s been crazy but a good kind of crazy so if you’re still here and wanting to tell me about your plans hit that contact button and let’s get to know each other!
